New MFAM™ initiative to develop revolutionary miniature atomic magnetometer sensors
In the last 2 years there has been a revolution in location and characterization of offshore marine UXO. The advent of multiple magnetic sensor arrays has increased survey swath and also allowed sophisticated analytic signal and simultaneous dipole pattern matching inversion modeling for accurate positioning of the target and depth of burial. This article discusses the state of the art in marine magnetics including the separate technologies of Overhauser and Cesium Vapor and discusses the relevant data processing techniques employed. These advances in survey technology are in response to the requirement to re-mediate large sections of the North and Baltic Seas contaminated with WWII Chemical Munitions in order to install and wind turbines for Green Energy expansion.
